FAQ

Who are you?
I'm Lizzie. Who are you?

How old are you?
Eighteen years and nine months next week.

Where are you from?
The lovely, unpredictable, fish-filled, liberal-minded coast of Massachusetts. Although I did not grow up in Boston (I grew up in suburbia, a bit south of the city), I spend a lot of time there and hope to move back there one day.

What do you do?
I'm in my first year of college in western New York. That makes me sound really studious and focused and all that crap. Really, I just watch a lot of Netflix, eat a lot of Lucky Charms, and work. Part-time janitor in New York, part-time babysitter in Massachusetts. Oh. I occasionally go to class, so that maybe someday, if I don't fail out, I can get a degree in writing and English.

What do you want to do?
As fun and challenging as custodial work is, I have many other aspirations for my future career, and although I respect the fine work of janitors all over America and recognize their inexpendability, that is not my ultimate goal. Really, I hope to be an author someday. That would be ideal. In the event that reaching author status is not as easy as I would wish it to be, I would also accept a position as a club DJ in New York City or London. But in reality I'll probably end up an embittered old editor at some magazine or publishing company or other. Or even worse, a high school English teacher. (No offense to teachers, high school or otherwise. Many of my nearest and dearest are teachers and I respect and love them for that.)

Why/what do you blog?
I started this blog on the recommendation of one of those beloved teachers I mentioned. The woman in question remains one of the most important and influential people in my development as both a writer and a person. It was her suggestion to start a blog (I had had others before this) solely for the purpose of posting fiction. Over time, the blog has morphed from fiction into something else. Often it's just a place for me to post impassioned but poorly spell-checked diatribes. But I still try to post fiction on a semi-regular basis, as you will see in my feature "Fiction Fridays". I also often post about school, relationships, books, music, questions...anything I feel like. Eclectic.

What does the name of the blog mean?
"Hey Playgirl, why are you dancing when you could be alone?" are lyrics from a favorite Ladytron song of mine. Look it up. The meaning of it is yours for the interpretation.

What are your interests?
Pretentious quotes from 19th century authors, finding the perfect mac & cheese, listening to music with complicated lyrics, getting lost in nighttime snowstorms, finding just how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop, road trips to Oregon, acoustic covers of pop radio hits, thick books of dense poetry, girls with deep voices, boys who wear glasses, organic cosmetics, questionable fashion choices, things that taste salty and sweet simultaneously, and people-watching in Boston at night. To name a very few.

Why do you-
Ok. That's enough. Let's not pretend anybody's still reading the "FAQ" at this point in the game. It's over. It's done. Write a funeral dirge. If you really have more questions, you can comment, email, mail a letter or send a carrier pigeon. Contact me. You can do it.
